I am a 70-year-old husband, father, and grandfather. My wife, Jan, and I live in The Dalles, Oregon, USA, with our Yorkie-poo, Princess. My life endeavors have included extended periods as a photographer, Christian minister, educator, horticulturist, landscape designer, author, and multi-media artist.
Although I loved drawing as a child, I began my adult artistic journey with photography in my late teens and early twenties. The years after that saw me develop as a community educator, horticulturist, landscape designer, author, and multi-media artist sharing original art.
I am a multi-media artist exploring elements in nature as visual signs of God’s creative Spirit. My representational style utilizes color, pattern, movement, and texture to evoke emotion, inviting others to participate in the story.
I employ watercolor, gouache, and acrylics, often adding charcoal and pastels, working primarily on paper. Collage has become an important aspect of my practice, allowing me to add layers of dimension and meaning.
I am influenced by the complexity and beauty of the ever-shifting natural elements that surround me in the Columbia River Gorge.
